People suffering from a stroke will benefit from the addition of neurosurgeon/neurologist Alexander Zubkov, M.D., Ph.D., to the medical staff at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn., and Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology.
Dr. Zubkov earned his medical degree at First Leningrad Medical Institute in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and his Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. He served a neurology residency at A.L. Polenov Neurosurgical Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia. His advanced training includes completing a fellowship in neurology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Miss., and fellowships in stroke and critical care neurology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
Board-certified in neurology, vascular neurology and psychiatry, Dr. Zubkov will serve as co-medical director for the Fairview Southdale Hospital Stroke Program. “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Zubkov to the Fairview Southdale Hospital Stroke Program as medical director,” says Gary Petersen, director of cardiovascular and stroke services at Fairview Southdale Hospital. “His incredible energy, talent and expertise will aid in further development of our stroke program, including outreach to greater Minnesota.”
Renowned as one of the top stroke hospitals in the country, the Joint Commission accredited stroke program at Fairview Southdale Hospital is a key component of the Fairview Southdale Heart, Stroke and Vascular Center. Named a Primary Stroke Center in 2005, the stroke program is a leader in stroke prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
