Fairview Southdale Hospital Wound Healing Institute is an outpatient hospital clinic dedicated to healing patients with slow or non-healing wounds. Our highly trained wound healing team of physicians and nurses will create an individualized plan designed to quickly heal wounds acquired from such areas as vascular surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, infectious disease, and podiatry.

The Fairview Southdale Hospital Wound Healing Institute's clinical staff uses the latest proven methods and technologies to heal previously unhealed wounds.  Patients, families and their caregivers are also taught how to treat the wounds at home to promote faster and more permanent healing.  Our goals are:

What to expect during treatment

To determine the best course of treatment, our team begins by identifying the underlying cause of your wound and assessing your general health.  You may receive a referral to other areas, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition support, diabetes education and other appropriate services. Your progress will be closely monitored and treatment may require regular follow-up visits. Specialized treatments will be selected as needed.

Collaboration with your primary care physician

Fairview Southdale Hospital Wound Healing Institute physicians are medical specialists who work with your physician to consult on your care.  We will keep your doctor informed about your care plan and update him or her on your progress. While we are working with you to heal your wound, you will continue to see your primary care physician for your routine medical care.

How to get started

If you have questions or feel that a wound simply is not healing (roughly 4-6 weeks), please call us directly at 952-915-8770.  We are located in the Southdale Medical Building, which is located directly south of Fairview Southdale Hospital on France between 65th and 66th Street.  Enter on the south side of Building at the 66th Street entrance and take the elevator to the 5th Floor, Suite 586.  Parking is free.

Insurance reimbursement

Medicare, Medicaid, HMO’s or private insurers may reimburse the fees for many of our services. You should contact your provider to determine your coverage prior to making your first appointment.
